Born in 1983, Rima Maroun is a Lebanese photographer and performer based in Beirut. She is a co-founder of Collectif Kahraba a theater company and cultural association with which she performed in different theater projects until 2009. She has been involved in the organisation of the festival “ Nehna Wel Amar Wel Jiran” in 2013 and 2015.

 

In 2008, she receives the Anna Lindh Foundation award for dialogue through art and culture and has since then been exhibiting her work throughout Europe and the Middle East (Italy, Hungary, Syria, France, Greece, Croatia, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Montenegro, Lebanon, UAE). Her work was part of Photoquai biennale in Paris, Art Dubai, Meeting Point 6. She exhibited her work at the Gallery Janine Rubeiz, Beirut Exhibition Center, Institut Francais de Beirut, Beirut Art Center among others.

 

In 2009 and 2010 she is part of the first edition of 'Takween school' for contemporary dance. Since 2011 she joined Area Dansa school for contemporary dance in Barcelona for periods of intensive training including various workshops.

 

Since 2012 Rima is developing a research on the relationship between photography and dance. After a residency at the Paris International City of Arts in 2012 she presents a first project in Montpellier Danse Festival called “ the mourners”. She continues developing a new project called “ Do not retain us” after a residency at “la maison du visiteur” in Vezelay France in 2014 and at la Sosta Palmizi in Cortona in 2015 and in Mal Pelo in Spain in 2016.

 

She is part of Inside Movement dance training programme in Barcelona in 2016.
